We do not have any symptom that could be described as kangarooing or some of the other more dramatic affects described on here, so would suggest these are indicative of a more serious problem.

I have also read that the 1.4 engine is said to be the sweeter of the two, with better 'pull' through the rev range. Never had to do this in 30+ years of driving. Had an update in november, and to be honest.. the first 500 kms were ok, with a little or no kangaroos at all, then the issues appearead back (kangaroo, misfires, rarely powercuts but they still are there).

The stop-start cuts in quickly as in when the gear lever is in neutral and your foot is about to come off the clutch the engine stops immediately previously the engine switched off after around 3 to 4 seconds, the engine seems to restart more quickly as well. The maximum is acheived between 1600 and 4000rpm then is starts to drop rapidly. For some it is not a minor problem at all and it is an issue affecting an engine that is used in more than 10 models across VAG brands, not just the T-ROC. EVO. Richard Cleaver

Its not cheap at 24,800 and 31,640 as tested but thats the kind of money VW can still charge. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, commonly referred to as 'Evo', is a sports sedan based on the Lancer that was manufactured by Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors from 1992 until 2016.

I'm due to pickup a 1.5 TSI Skoda Octavia on Saturday so I'm wondering if I should contact the dealer about this - if there is an update Richard Cleaver
They told me "My opinion is at the speed of 10mph and the revs at where they are in 2nd gear it is taking the time for the engine to build up torque to allow it to accelerate.
Based on the ongoing reports of (lack of) progress towards a fix, and the dealer's attitude to my reports of the problem, I rejected the vehicle and got a full refund. Two gearboxes are available with the 1.5-litre EVO engine, the new seven-speed DSG or the six-speed manual tested here. As per my usage which will be < 1000 km / month, i am planning for a petrol version.

I have noticed that if you sit in the car in 1st gear with the clutch depressed, handbrake on and the other foot completely off the accelerator, and then just let the clutch out very slightly the engine starts to rev itself.

Good luck fighting them - assume you have contacted the VW Exec Office - who are fully aware of the issue and accepting various Rejections every week - including mine! EVO ELECTRONIC VARIABLE ORIFICE. It is found in some form on most Volkswagen vehicles, such as the Atlas, Tiguan, and Passat. You can't "Reject" a car without a fault..the Kangarooing is such a fault and many (including me) have Rejected theirs due to this.

Actually the dealer seems to have an increasing number of "35" engine models with low mileage listed so maybe they are stocking up on them awaiting a future fix.
